Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation

Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) uses specialized tools to apply precise, controlled pressure to muscles and connective tissue. It can be incorporated into treatment to address areas of tension or restriction, reduce discomfort, and support improved tissue mobility and range of motion. IASTM may also help mobilize areas affected by scar tissue or adhesions by encouraging movement between layers of soft tissue. IASTM can be effective for a range of conditions, including arthritis, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, and muscle strains.

Temporary redness may occur, and occasionally small red or purple spots called petechiae may appear due to irritation of superficial capillaries. Petechiae are not required for the treatment to be effective, so pressure and technique are carefully adjusted to avoid unnecessary bruising or tissue irritation.
